London is absolutely stunning all year round. However, at Christmas time it becomes even more charming with all the lights coating the city in atmospheric light and giving it an extra layer of magic and coziness. At the end of November I took my mom on a short getaway to London and today I want to share six things to do for a magical Christmas in London with you.
Ice-skating at one of the many skating rinks along the city
There are plenty of opportunities to go ice-skating around Christmas time in London. Be it the family-friendly skating rink at Winter Wonderland, or the royal rink at Somerset
Location: Somerset House, Hyde Park, Natural History Museum
Visit Covent Garden for an instant boost of Christmas mood
Covent Garden is an all-year-round
Stroll through the parks and watch the Squirrels prepare for winter hibernation
Oh, the squirrels! Wander around St. James’s, Hyde or Greenpark and watch thesquirrels, ducks and other wild animals prepare for the cold winter. Thesquirrels are so tame here, they even jump onto you and touch your hands. I find that so utterly adorable and always make sure to come back to either one of the parks when I’m in London.
Location: St. James’s Park
Wander around Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, Carnaby Street and Leister Square and get lost in the lights and Christmas decorations
I’m not so big on huge crowds and shopping rushes. However, Oxford Street around Christmas time is an absolute must. Never have I seen Christmas decorations more magnificent than in London. Every corner has its own theme and is equally as impressive and stunning in terms of fairy light and Christmas vibes. Definitely a MUST!
Soak up the festive atmosphere at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park
Asthis was my first visit to London in December, I just had to pop into Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park. I have heard so much about this spectacle thatI just needed to see for myself. And oh boy was it impressive. I have never seen a Christmas market of that size and type. It felt more like Oktoberfest than a traditional merry Christmas market but sure is worth a visit while you’re there.
Location: Hyde Park
Visit The Ivy for some festive Photos
Thisis something I have come across while scrolling Instagram. There are twodifferent locations, both decorated lavishly with Christmas baubles, candycanes
Now on to you: What is your favourite thing to do in London at Christmas time?
